Maracanã Municipal Stadium

The Maracanã Municipal Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has a standard capacity of 205,000 spectators, 155,000 of whom can be seated. It was built for the 1950 Football World Cup and housed a crowd of 199,854 for the final match of the tournament, Brazil vs. Uruguay, on July 16 1950 – the greatest ever attendance for a sporting event. The oval stadium is 105 ft (32 m) high and distance between the middle of the field and the furthest spectator is 413 ft (126 m).
