1,179 viewsGottlieb Daimler built the Einspur, a motorized bicycle with an internal combustion engine, in October and November 1885 at Bad Cannstatt, Germany. The wooden-framed machine was first ridden by Wilhelm Maybach. It had a top speed of 12 mph (19 km/h) and developed 0.5 hp (0.37 kW) from its single-cylinder 264-cc four-stroke engine at 700 rpm.
