Rick Hansen, paralyzed from the waist down in 1973 as a result of a motor accident, wheeled his wheelchair 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 km) through four continents and 34 countries.He started his journey from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on March 21 1985 and arrived back there on May 22 1987.
