A guide to some great online sources for clothing for the plus sized teen, and advice on ensuring you find the best fit for you.

In a world where low-rise jeans and tiny t-shirts reign supreme, it can be difficult for the plus size teen to find something that suits them and makes them feel comfortable. Fortunately over the last few years, fashion has taken a turn for teens that wear larger sizes, offering more options and styles. There are several websites and catalogs that sell great clothing for plus sizes at reasonable prices.

Choosing the right outfit can be difficult when you are not wearing a size four. The key is to look for something comfortable, stylish, and not too revealing. Tunic tops are a great starter, as they cover up any possible exposed tummy, and look terrific on just about any body type. Look for something with an empire wait to accentuate your curves. Tunics come in lots of different styles, and are often offered up in everything from tank top style to long sleeved to sweaters.

Another great feature of the website is that they offer a choice in inseams, usually from 32 up to 37, for those of us who may be shorter or taller. This is an important factor in choosing pants or jeans, because you don’t want the length to be too long so you are tripping over your jeans, nor too short so you feel uncomfortable. Look for stores who offer this option, because it makes a big difference in the clothing you choose to wear.

When looking for clothing as a plus size junior, you want to ensure the fit is just right. Most junior’s clothing in an extra large seems to fit more of a junior’s medium, so be sure if you do purchase something with an extra large tag that it fits properly. A lot of companies today offer their tops in 1X up to 4X to accommodate larger bust sizes. These tops are cut the same as the smaller versions, but are offered in larger sizes so that you will feel comfortable and they look just as great as their smaller counterparts!

Shoes can be difficult to find sometimes as well. Most websites and stores today stop their sizes at a women’s 10. If you happen to wear a larger size than 10, it might be slightly difficult to find a style you like. Zappos.com is a terrific choice for trendy, cute shoes in sizes that will fit. No matter what you choose, know that there are a lot of terrific places today that offer up some cute clothing for the plus size junior so she will feel good about herself, and can find clothing she’ll want to wear again and again.
