Makeup Tips: When To Leave Beauty Marks And When To Cover Them
Find out if you should cover your beauty mark or show it off!
So you have a beauty mark, known to some as a mole or birthmark. Now you have the decision to leave it for the world to see, or cover it. As long as you have had the marking checked by a professional and it has been decided that the marking is safe and does not need to be removed then ultimately the decision is up to you.
Beauty marks have been known to be very fashionable. Famous stars were the first to show us just how beautiful the marks could be. One thing to remember is that you want the beauty mark to accentuate your face, not draw attention away from it. For this reason there are a few places on the face that a beauty mark is considered okay. Around the eyes and mouth. The word beauty mark is commonly linked to Marylyn Monroe who is well known for her mark located on her upper lip near her cheek. Marilyn had nearly flawless skin so this mark helped to draw attention to her features. Other stars that may come up in your mind are Madonna and Cindy Crawford who both have beauty marks near their lips. Sarah Jessica Parker from S. in the City has a beauty mark on her upper chin below the lips. Janine Turner has a beauty mark located near her temple.
Many people try to create their own beauty marks. There are temporary beauty marks that are waterproof that are sticky and can be applied anywhere on your body or face. For a more permanent look beauty marks can be tattooed anywhere you would like, and often when you think someone has always had a beauty mark you will be surprised to find that they created it themselves. Many fashion experts offer up using a beauty mark to cover a pimple that has annoyingly popped out. This can be achieved by following these easy instructions:
1. Apply your normal foundation
2. Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone (warm or cool)
3. Take an eye pencil and cover the pimple
This will make it appear that you have always had a beauty mark. Take note of where the pimple is and if it is not located in the more fashionable areas then avoid creating the beauty mark all together.
So now that you know that beauty marks are being created in homes all over the world and you have been reminded of some well known stars that wear them proudly, you are left with the decision to cover or not. If you are still unsure and uncomfortable about your own beauty mark here are some general questions to ask yourself.
1. Is your beauty mark located anywhere other than near your lips, cheek or eyes?
If the answer is yes, then you may want to consider covering the mark. Beauty marks located in the middle of the forehead, nose or lower chin tend to draw more attention away from the face and can cause a distraction.
2.Do you have more than one beauty mark on your face?
If the answer is yes, and you are comfortable wearing a beauty mark, you may want to consider covering the additional markings. Rarely, do we see stars wearing more than one beauty mark, again because the attention would be drawn away from their faces.
3. Is your beauty mark large in size?
If the answer is yes, then you may want to consider covering the beauty mark. A large beauty mark may draw attention and the focus will be taken away from your face.
If after answering these questions you find that your beauty mark falls into the cover up category then here are some tips to cover it.
1. Apply your normal foundation
2. Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone (warm or cool).
3. Apply the concealer with a brush in a downward motion (moving upward can cause the little hairs on your face to stick out more). Keep everything smooth to avoid a caked on look.
Beauty marks that are big in size and crowd the face in general should be covered to avoid attention being taken away from the face. Beauty marks that do not need to be covered are simple in size and shape. They add a feature to an already flawless face and they can become an important part of the person they are on. Beauty marks do not have to be hidden, and if you are comfortable wearing them then go for it. The biggest thing to remember is if you can wear something confidently and proudly then you will come out looking more beautiful then not!
