Celebrity Fashion: The Hair Styles And Jewelry of Uma Thurman
When you’re as tall as Uma Thurman, you must be selective when it comes to hairstyles, but jewelry – it’s always appropriate.
Uma Thurman is often photographed with her hair in an upswept style, but tends not to pile it too high on top. Being over 6 foot tall, she doesn’t need the extra height and with her slender figure, wearing her hair up high would make her look even thinner. You’re more likely to see Uma with her haircut about shoulder length, straight, but feathered and layered, like she did when she appeared at the Los Angeles premiere of her movie “Kill Billâ€Â. When her hair is pulled up off of her shoulders, it’s usually done in a knot at the back of the neck, rather than on top, and is an elegant approach for Ms. Thurman. Often she wears her hair parted on the left and pulled back into a ponytail. This gives Uma a rounder look to her usually oval-shaped face.
There are times when you’ll spot Ms. Thurman with a wave or curl to her hair as she wore it 61st Annual Golden Globe Awards in January 2004. This particular hairstyle lends her more volume and looks fabulous with whatever she’s wearing. At times, she parts her hair on the side with bangs swept to the side. Normally Uma has blond tresses, but she wore a black wig, done in a short, Italian cut in Quentin Tarantino’s movie “Pulp Fictionâ€Â. This gave her the appearance of a completely different person, but most of her fans seem to prefer her with lighter locks. No matter how Uma Thurman wears her hair, it seems to accentuate her flawless face. She has the type of hair that appears to do whatever she commands, seemingly with no effort. When dressed in evening wear, with hair upswept, she reminds one somewhat of Grace Kelly.
Although, Uma is rarely seen just dripping in jewels, her style leans more towards sparse, yet elegant. At the 71st Annual Academy Awards, she showed up wearing a unique and unusual combination of Indian arm bands, earrings and a waist chain which critics took pot shots at, which showed her bold, classy style. A totally different type of jewelry was a piece that Uma obtained after hearing about a new concept, gem therapy. Along with other stars, like Clint Eastwood, Uma was intrigued by the Carnelian necklace, which is said to promote vitality and happiness. She wore it at the Ninth Annual Screen Actors. And, at the 2004 Golden Globe Awards, Uma Thurman was one of the stars that decided to go for pearls, wearing Fred Leighton’s platinum, diamond and pearl tassel earrings that showcased diamond briolettes. Speaking of diamonds, Uma was only one of the stars at the 2004 Oscars who chose diamond drops to dazzle the audience. A multiple strand necklace draped her neckline while she lit up the red carpet.
Uma knows that you can’t go wrong with pearls. She displayed a gorgeous pearl choker when she appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair. Other impressive jewels worn by Uma at the 76th Annual Academy Awards are a diamond chain lariat with two diamond pendants totaling 20 carats, valued at $175,000, a diamond bead necklace totaling 70 carats valued at $135,000, a diamond bead bracelet with 40 carats of diamonds valued at $65,000 and a 13 carat rose-cut diamond ring valued at $150,000, along with a 19th century diamond hair comb valued at $20,000.
Few celebrities are bold enough to show their individuality in front of thousands at the risk of being critiqued, but Uma Thurman continues a faceted show of casualness, splendor and even occasionally a hippy style that is all her own. Whether it be hairstyles, jewelry or evening wear, Uma knows what looks good on her, and that is, just about anything.
